Look Better, Feel Better, and Live a Better Life!

Health

Health improvement, health issue prevention, and health preservation are some of the top reasons why people engage in efforts to improve their fitness.  Health is important because it is what enables us to be at our best as humans.  Unhealthy people are less able to do things, enjoy life and be most productive.  Health is so important that we have made it a readiness factor in the Fitness Protocols iPad App.  We recommend that in order to undertake a fruitful fitness improvement effort you need to have a certain health capability.

This means that you have the minimal mental and physical ability necessary to undertake required health improvement, weight loss, or fitness improvement effort.

A limited ability to undertake these efforts will further challenge you and increase the chances of you not being able to complete or maintain your fitness improvement, weight loss, or health improvement. This is because certain medical conditions, illnesses, and injuries can prevent or limit your effective effort. Sometimes, we are not even aware that we may have a certain condition. That is why, if you have not done so yet, getting a baseline full medical exam done before undertaking this effort would be very beneficial and is thus highly recommended.

The best health levels result from a well-balanced combination of balanced physical fitness and balanced nutrition as illustrated in our Energy Balance Model shown in the (Physical Exercise) page.  Fitness improvement has been shown to have significant positive health impact on people of all ages and physical conditions.  On the other side, poor fitness can create significant and deadly health issues.  Health risks increase with poor fitness conditions.

The figure that follows illustrates possible relationships between how out of shape you are and how long you have been out of shape.  However, actual risks will vary with each individual depending on their conditions and circumstances.  However, in general, the higher our Body Mass Index or BMI and the longer it has been high, the higher the risks and the worst the implications thereof.
